Terre della Baronia red

APPELLATION: Sicilia D.O.P. – Rosso
GRAPE VARIETIES: Nero d’Avola, Perricone
SOIL TYPES: Contrada Fondirò, Munti area: dark clay soils, highly mineral-rich. Contrada Fondirò, Arena Vecchio area: at the highest point of the hillside, a limestone outcrop emerges from the hill, forming a steeply sloping area surrounded by grey loamy-silty soils in the valley.
TRAINING SYSTEM: Trellis system with spurred cordon pruning.
HARVEST PERIOD: October.
HARVESTING METHOD: Manual harvesting into 14 kg crates.
WINEMAKING: The grapes undergo a 24–48-hour cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by fermentation in horizontal and vertical fermentation tanks.
MATURATION: 12 months, partly in oak barriques and partly in stainless-steel tanks.
The Terre della Baronia Terroir
Terre della Baronia is the name given to the winery's terroir: a wine-growing area covering approximately 3 km², comprising six contrade divided into around 50 sub-areas and characterized by an exceptional concentration of morphologically diverse soils.
The wine range bearing this name is characterized by a strong aromatic impact and reflects the winery's approach to winemaking and cellar practices, all aimed at preserving and enhancing the distinctive expression of the territory.
Tasting Notes
Deep and almost impenetrable red in color. The nose is rich, with sweet aromas reminiscent of mulberry and black cherry. Sweet spice notes evoke licorice, incense and cocoa bean.
Structured and vigorous yet elegant and fragrant on the palate, with excellent persistence.
Food Pairings
Ideal with pasta dishes featuring meat or vegetables, grilled meats, roasts, game and medium-aged cheeses.
