Ghemme Vigna Locche
Ghemme DOCG Vigna Locche SelectionGhemme DOCG Vigna Locche
Grape Varieties: Nebbiolo 90%, Vespolina 9%, Uva Rara 1%
The term "vigna" accompanied by the toponym "Locche" indicates the location of our oldest vineyard, with vines over sixty years old. The only vineyard located in this area on the first hill of Ghemme, which has always been suited to producing quality Nebbiolo, it draws nutrients from a clayey soil with sand and pebbles, which gives Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Uva Rara a unique mineral structure.
Our Ghemme DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin) Vigna Locche ages for 5 years in oak barrels and then ages for at least 6 months in the bottle.
Characterized by a ruby red color with garnet highlights, it has an intense, complex aroma with hints of berries and blackberry and raspberry jam. The flavor is dry, warm, soft, savory, and elegant, with balanced tannins.
Excellent with aged cheeses and meat-based main courses, it also pairs well with structured dishes such as roasts and braised meats. To enhance the complex structure of Ghemme D.O.C.G., we recommend uncorking at least an hour before serving at a temperature of 16-18°C.
