The winery

Tenuta Franzona is located in the rolling hills between Emilia and Romagna, near Bologna, an area with a long-standing agricultural and winemaking tradition. Founded as a family estate, the winery has grown over the decades while remaining faithful to its roots, combining respect for tradition with continuous investment in quality and modern winemaking.

Story

The story of Tenuta Franzona began in 1964, when Aldo Carati purchased the estate together with other farms in the areas of Dozza, Castel Guelfo and Castel Bolognese. From the very beginning, he was supported by his nephew Gilberto Lanzoni, whose lifelong experience in the fruit trade provided valuable agricultural knowledge.

Towards the end of the 1960s, they transformed the estate into a winery by building a modern cellar dedicated to vinification. Their vision proved successful, allowing the winery to grow steadily through continuous investment and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Following Gilberto's passing in 2005, the estate was inherited by his wife Tina and their son Massimiliano. After several years under external management, the family returned to personally lead the winery in 2014. Today, the next generation, represented by Alessandro, continues this family tradition with enthusiasm, combining innovation with deep respect for the estate's heritage.

The Estate

The estate extends over 19 hectares of land in the hills between Emilia and Romagna. Originally cultivated with vineyards as well as apricot and peach orchards, the property gradually evolved into a fully dedicated wine estate as viticulture became the heart of the family's activity.

Today, the vineyards represent the identity of Tenuta Franzona, reflecting the character of the local terroir and the family's passion for producing authentic wines.

The Cellar

The winery's modern cellar was built in the late 1960s as part of the family's vision to develop their own wine production. Over the years, it has been continuously upgraded with stainless steel tanks and increasingly advanced equipment, allowing traditional winemaking experience to be combined with modern technology.

Today, the cellar remains the heart of Tenuta Franzona, where every vintage reflects decades of experience, family dedication and respect for the land.
