San Quirico

APPELLATION: DENOMINATION OF CONTROLLED ORIGIN (DOC)

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% NEBBIOLO

This precious cru is made of Nebbiolo grapes exclusively, cultivated on a small hill facing south, next to the remains of the ancient Romanesque church called San Quirico, dominating the vineyard and giving the name to the wine.

The main characteristic of the soil in this area is a combination of a volcanic substrate with moraine deposits on top, but with a significant prevalence of the volcanic component. This peculiarity is reflected in the minerality and ferrous aromas of this wine, giving it a unique and distinctive character. The wine undergoes an aging period of minimum 12 months in French oak barrels, followed by a long aging period in the bottle before getting ready for sale.

The wine has a bright ruby color with garnet reflections. On the nose it has fruity notes of ripe black cherries and a broad hint of licorice. The almost blood-colored ferrous-mineral aromas are prominent.  On the palate it is fresh, very tannic, with spicy tones of clove and coffee.
